Heart Health Day

The Ringwood and Wanaque Health Departments in conjunction with Chilton Medical Center are having a heart health day on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 4:30-6:30pm at the Ringwood Public Library (30 Cannici Drive). Ringwood and Wanaque residents are welcome! Heart Health Day will help you determine if you are at risk of heart disease and will help you learn how to keep your heart healthy. The event will consist of a free blood pressure screening, information about heart healthy meals which will be provided by the dietitian from Shop Rite of Oakland. The screening will help identify your risk of having a stroke and health education will be provided in regards to how you can reduce your risk. The stroke prevention screening includes a blood pressure screening, blood cholesterol screening (which will include Total HDL), glucose level screening, carotid artery assessment, pulse and BMI assessment and health education counseling. There is a $10 fee per participant for the stroke screening. Additionally, there will be a thyroid and carotid artery screening offered at the event. This quick and painless screening will use an ultrasound to evaluate the thyroid and carotid arteries. The screener is STROKESCREEN.COM, Inc. The fee for the thyroid and carotid artery screening is $30. Walk-ins are welcome for the event but appointments are required for both the stroke and thyroid and carotid artery screenings.
